We're Good.

Irene came in and went out kindly in our neck of the woods. We watched the rain and winds show their power, but were kept safe from any real damage.  We did lose power late morning on Sunday.  We were ready with the RV generator, so our fridge and freezer foods were safe. We even cheated and set up the computers and tv later in the day so the children could use up some energy on the Wii and have some family movie time.  Other than that, David and the children played a board game, some took naps, and we enjoyed some candlelight that evening.  We did head out for a ride on Sunday evening to asses the damages in the nearby towns. Several trees were down on the power lines nearby. Otherwise we were thankful to see that the rivers were still staying low and the damage wasn't as terrible as it has been in other places.

Overall, I'd say our first encounter with a hurricane rated as exciting yet safe.  Just the way I'd always like a hurricane to be. ;-)

"And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock."
Matthew 7:25
