We asked some friends to come for a family photo shoot. We hadn't had one in over a year. What we didn't tell the children is that it was a set-up to surprise them with the news about the new baby.
As we set up for the photo, just before the camera started clicking, I jumped up for "one more thing!" and came back with a sign that read "+1". When I showed it to them, they all looked at me strange and didn't quite get what was up. When they figured it out, the older children smirked and said, "I knew it!" while the little girls giggled with excitement. However, everyone was still pretty nervous about being in front of the camera, so we didn't quite get the expressions of reaction we were aiming for.
