Science Week 2012 - Day Two

Today we studied the parts of plants. We headed out to compare leaves, stems, flowers, and roots around the yard...

Discovered we have a pear tree growing in our yard. Yum!

Came inside to enjoy a snack of roots, stems, leaves, and flowers...

We made sure we "coffee'd" our little plant-patient...

We set up some jars and beans to test a hypothesis...

And added to our Word Wall...

We also enjoyed observing and dissecting seeds and reading some library books. Found a great lesson in a children's story book, "Searcher and Old Tree".  When our roots are strong, we can weather any storm, protecting those we love along the way.

"For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit."  Jeremiah 17:8
