We started the morning with Joshua reading a library book on the life of Geoge Washington Carver to the children.
Then we moved on to some reading and activities to learn more about roots and leaves. Here are the sketches of the stems Joshua, Ruth, and Benjamin observed...
We invited a friend to join us for our afternoon studies. We built glucose molecules while studying photosynthesis...
Mom's lovely artwork showing the process of photosynthesis. Don't laugh, Joshua wouldn't let us erase it so he could show it to Dad when he gets home. That boy won my heart today. ;)
Collected samples of leaf venations...
...and set up an experiment to test the vasular tissue of the petioles. (impressive vocabulary, huh?)
We worked a bit on the Word Wall, thinking it would be neat to set up the cards in the shape of a plant with the words in their corresponding places. If you turn your head *just right* you might see what we were after there. ;)
