Summer Bucket List Series - Summer Schoolin'

Just because we take a couple of months off from the books doesn't mean we aren't learning new things.  Summer is a great time to fit in some new experiences and classes.

We wrapped up our studies with a presentation of the children's history projects.  They all did a great work.

Benjamin's catapult

Joshua presenting his timeline and medieval archer costume

Ruth presenting her castle

Elizabeth's power point presentation of the Medieval Feast she hosted

Another fun way we wrapped up our school year was by attending a picnic for local homeschool families. While there, Verity joined in on the Kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Another field trip to attend a Shakespeare play, As You Like It, performed by another homeschool group.

And, since acting appears to be the new passion in this family, four of the children participated in a 6 week acting class this summer. Grandma and Papa joined us to attend their performances on the final day of class.

Benjamin as Shylock from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice

Joshua as Hamlet

Ruth as "the sun" from Aesop's fable, The Wind and The Sun

One of our favorite teachers, Miss Dustin

Susannah as "the fox" in Aesop's fable, The Fox and the Grapes

We fit in a horse riding lesson with Miss Dustin later in the summer. The girls were thrilled with the opportunity to ride and learn about her dear horse.

It's been a summer to remember, for sure. Filled with great memories, learning, and good times with friends and each other.
