Of Knights and Maidens

There is a story behind these costumes.

The boys made theirs during sewing lessons this past year.  Aren't they so cool?

Elizabeth started working on hers during that time as well, only working on it without her teacher.  She found a formal dress at a local thrift store.  Altered it, added some trimmings, and viola!

She's a jewel!!

That was such a great success, she started altering other dresses that came our way through hand-me-downs and thrifting.  By the time a spring picnic came along with our local Bright Lights club, all the children were decked out in medieval garb. 

 

 

 

I'm hoping Elizabeth will find a few minutes to put her own words to the photos. Not only was the experience of making the gowns wonderful, but she and Ruth enjoyed a precious time attending their Bright Lights meetings this past year. 

Elizabeth has another gown in the making from other thrift store finds.  She's even got some ideas of going into business making costumes.  In the meantime, she's keeping busy preparing for a medieval feast planned for her upcoming 16th birthday in October. 

We are so blessed by our fair maiden of virtue. She is a Proverbs 31 woman in the making. :)
